Professor Assistants & Everembers
Evershade is growing, and the professors could use some help.
The School of Evershade is building a YouTube channel where every lesson can also be watched. Two kinds of volunteers make that possible: Professor Assistants, who teach the lessons on camera, and Everembers, who demonstrate the hands-on work. Both roles are open to adult volunteers, and one person may hold both roles, along with Everspark, if they wish.
Professor Assistants
A Professor Assistant teaches a lesson on video, the way an assistant might help a professor present a class. You follow the lesson as it is written on its lesson page, step by step, in your own voice and at your own pace.
Choose any lesson that does not have a video yet. One lesson or several, it is up to you. A different assistant for every lesson is perfectly fine.
Teach the lesson as written. The lesson page is your script and your guide.
A small portrait of the lesson's professor appears in the corner of the video, so students know whose class they are in.
Dress your set with a few atmospheric props that suit the class: quills and scrolls for Scrollwork, plants for Herbology, bottles and bowls for Potions, a star chart for Celestial Studies.
Your video is posted to the School of Evershade YouTube channel, and the lesson page links to it, so students can read or watch as they prefer.
Professor Assistants are credited by name on the video and earn the Professor Assistant emblem.
Everembers
An Everember demonstrates the practical part of an assignment on video: the making, the building, the trying-it-yourself portion of a lesson.
Choose an assignment and film yourself completing its hands-on activity.
Where an assignment has two levels, you may film Level One (household materials), Level Two (historically accurate materials), or both.
Show the steps clearly, including the ordinary mistakes and fixes. Students learn as much from watching someone work through a snag as from a perfect result.
Follow every safety note in the lesson, on camera, the same way students are asked to.
Stills from your video will illustrate the lesson page, credited to you, and the full video will be linked from the lesson page and posted to the School of Evershade YouTube channel. The video description on YouTube links back to the lesson page, so viewers can find the full lesson, materials list, and assignment.
Everembers are credited by name and earn the Everember emblem.
How to Sign Up
Fill out the sign-up form below. Tell us your name, your email, which role you are interested in, and which lessons or assignments you would like to claim. You may sign up for one lesson or many.
We will confirm your lesson so two volunteers are not filming the same one.
Film your video.
Email the finished video to schoolofevershade@gmail.com, along with a signed copy of the Video Submission Agreement (linked below the form). The agreement confirms that you are 18 or older, that the video is your own work, and that the School of Evershade owns the rights to use it.
The Rules
Volunteers must be 18 or older. No exceptions.
Your video must be entirely your own work. Do not use copyrighted music, images, clips, or text that you do not have the right to use. If you did not make it or license it, do not put it in the video.
Professor Assistants teach the lesson as written. If you believe a lesson contains an error, tell us. Accuracy matters more than pride at Evershade, and corrections are welcome. They just belong in the lesson itself, not improvised on camera.
Follow all safety guidance in the lesson, including safety notes for heat, blades, chemicals, and plants.
Keep videos family friendly and kind, in the spirit of the school.
By submitting a video with a signed agreement, you grant the School of Evershade full rights to edit, publish, and use the video and still images from it, on the website, the YouTube channel, and in school publications, with credit to you. Videos are volunteer contributions and are not paid work.
