Welcome to the Aerie

The Common Room of House Septentrio

Wisdom • Perspective • Independence • Clarity

Welcome, Septentrio.

High in one of Evershade's surviving towers, above much of the bustle of the castle below, you will find the Aerie.

The climb is considerable. The air is cool. The windows look out across the castle roofs and the forest beyond, and Professor Webblethorn maintains that anyone who reaches the top has had ample time to think about whatever brought them here.

This is your Common Room.

Settle beside a window. Bring a question to the table. Share something you've discovered, show us what you're working on, or simply see what your fellow Septentrio scholars have been thinking about.

The Aerie is a place for curiosity, thoughtful conversation, independent ideas, and the occasional question that sends everyone searching through the library.

House Septentrio

Direction: North

Season: Winter

Element: Air

Color Tradition: Shades

Virtues: Wisdom, Perspective, Independence, Clarity

House Mascot: Alaric the Gyrfalcon

Head of House: Professor Thistleloom Webblethorn

Common Room: The Aerie

Septentrio scholars are seekers of understanding. They value the opportunity to look carefully, question assumptions, consider different perspectives, and follow an idea wherever curiosity leads.

Being Septentrio does not mean being the cleverest person in the room, nor does it mean being quiet, solitary, or endlessly buried in books. Wisdom is not the same thing as knowing everything.

Sometimes it begins by realizing there is something you have not considered yet.

What am I missing?

What Happens in the Aerie?

This Common Room belongs primarily to the members of House Septentrio.

Here you can:

  • introduce yourself to your fellow House members

  • share discoveries, questions, projects, and ideas

  • talk about what you're studying elsewhere in Evershade

  • participate in Septentrio activities and discussions

  • respond to questions, notices, and challenges from Professor Webblethorn

  • vote on House ideas when decisions arise

  • suggest activities and traditions for the House

  • ask fellow Septentrio scholars what they think

  • occasionally do absolutely nothing except enjoy the view

New posts will appear here as there is something worth gathering around.

Help Shape Septentrio

The Houses of Evershade are still young.

Septentrio does not come with centuries of traditions already written. Some things about the House are established, but much of its culture will grow from the scholars who actually belong to it.

What should Septentrio celebrate?

What should happen in the Aerie each winter?

What activities feel distinctly Septentrio?

What traditions should future members inherit from the Eversparks who gathered here first?

You are welcome to suggest them.

Some ideas may remain ideas. Some may become activities. Others might happen unexpectedly and prove worth doing again.

Over time, the traditions that truly belong to Septentrio will emerge from the people who make this room their own.

The story of Septentrio is still being written.

Introduce Yourself

If you're among the first Septentrio scholars to arrive in the Aerie, say hello in the comments below.

You can tell us as much or as little as you'd like. If you need somewhere to begin:

What brought you to Evershade?

What are you studying or exploring right now?

What made Septentrio feel like your House?

What is something you've been curious about lately?

Or ignore all four questions and introduce yourself your own way. Independence is one of your House virtues, after all.

Welcome to the Aerie.

Make yourself comfortable.

Professor Webblethorn would probably tell you to look out the window before choosing a seat. Perspective matters.

All scholars of Evershade are Eversparks first. Visitors from other Houses are welcome to look around the Aerie and learn about Septentrio. We simply ask that House-specific discussions, decisions, and activities remain primarily in the hands of Septentrio members.
