The Common Room of House Meridies
Passion • Courage • Vitality • Transformation
Welcome, Meridies.
Gathered around one of the largest surviving fireplaces in Evershade, you will find the Hearth.
The fire is warm, the tables are rarely empty, and chairs have accumulated around the room in no particular order. Books, half-finished projects, curious objects, and the occasional item that Professor Muddlenook has been asked to please return to the Potions Laboratory have a habit of appearing here.
This is your Common Room.
Bring what excites you. Share what you're trying, what you're making, what worked, what absolutely did not, or the thing you're considering attempting anyway. Pull up a chair, encourage someone else, or tell your fellow Meridies scholars about the idea you can't stop thinking about.
The Hearth is a place for enthusiasm, courageous attempts, shared energy, and the kind of learning that can change you along the way.

Virtues: Passion, Courage, Vitality, Transformation
House Mascot: Aurel the Fennec Fox
Head of House: Professor Crimblebrew Muddlenook
Common Room: The Hearth
Meridies scholars are inclined toward action. When something matters to them, they are willing to throw themselves into it, attempt difficult things, and find out what happens through experience.
Being Meridies does not mean you must be loud, fearless, competitive, or impulsive. Courage can be quiet. Passion does not have to be public. Sometimes the bravest thing a person does is try something they are not yet certain they can do.
Meridies values the willingness to begin anyway.
What happens if I try?
What Happens in the Hearth?
This Common Room belongs primarily to the members of House Meridies.
Here you can:
introduce yourself to your fellow House members
share projects, attempts, discoveries, and accomplishments
talk about what you're studying elsewhere in Evershade
participate in Meridies activities and discussions
respond to questions, notices, and challenges from Professor Muddlenook
vote on House ideas when decisions arise
suggest activities and traditions for the House
encourage another scholar who is attempting something difficult
share the things that didn't work, because those usually teach us something too
New posts will appear here as there is something worth gathering around.
Help Shape Meridies
The Houses of Evershade are still young.
Meridies does not come with centuries of traditions already written. Some things about the House are established, but much of its culture will grow from the scholars who actually belong to it.
What should Meridies celebrate?
What should happen around the Hearth each summer?
What activities feel distinctly Meridies?
What traditions should future members inherit from the Eversparks who gathered here first?
You are welcome to suggest them.
Some ideas may remain ideas. Some may become activities. Others may begin with someone saying, “I wonder what would happen if we tried this?” and end with an entire House deciding it ought to happen again next year.
Over time, the traditions that truly belong to Meridies will emerge from the people who make this room their own.
The story of Meridies is still being written.
Introduce Yourself
If you're among the first Meridies scholars to arrive in the Hearth, say hello in the comments below.
You can tell us as much or as little as you'd like. If you need somewhere to begin:
What brought you to Evershade?
What are you studying or exploring right now?
What made Meridies feel like your House?
What is something you've wanted to try but haven't tried yet?
Or disregard the questions entirely and make your own introduction.
Welcome to the Hearth.
Pull up a chair.
Professor Muddlenook would probably tell you that not every experiment works the first time. He would also probably neglect to mention how often this observation comes from personal experience.
All scholars of Evershade are Eversparks first. Visitors from other Houses are welcome to look around the Hearth and learn about Meridies. We simply ask that House-specific discussions, decisions, and activities remain primarily in the hands of Meridies members.
