The Common Room of House Oriens
Adaptability • Renewal • Creativity • Flow
Welcome, Oriens.
On the eastern side of Evershade, where the castle catches the first light of morning, you will find the Basin.
Water moves quietly through old stone channels and gathers in a central basin. Plants have taken root between weathered stones, soft light finds its way through the old walls, and very little in the room seems to remain arranged in quite the same way for long.
This is your Common Room.
Bring an unfinished idea, a new interest, an unexpected connection, or something you've only just begun to wonder about. Share what you're creating, ask where an idea might lead, or simply spend some time seeing what your fellow Oriens scholars are exploring.
The Basin is a place for experimentation, imagination, new beginnings, and ideas that are still becoming something else.
House Oriens
Direction: East
Season: Spring
Element: Water
Color Tradition: Tints
Virtues: Adaptability, Renewal, Creativity, Flow
House Mascot: Izumi the Koi
Head of House: Professor Beryl Fernfoot
Common Room: The Basin
Oriens scholars are explorers of possibility. They tend to notice what something could become, make connections between ideas, and adapt when curiosity leads somewhere unexpected.
Being Oriens does not mean you must be an artist, endlessly spontaneous, outgoing, or constantly beginning something new. Creativity takes many forms, and adaptability does not mean changing simply for the sake of change.
Sometimes growth begins with allowing an idea to become something you did not originally expect.
What else could this become?
What Happens in the Basin?
This Common Room belongs primarily to the members of House Oriens.
Here you can:
introduce yourself to your fellow House members
share ideas, discoveries, experiments, and works in progress
talk about what you're studying elsewhere in Evershade
participate in Oriens activities and discussions
respond to questions, notices, and challenges from Professor Fernfoot
vote on House ideas when decisions arise
suggest activities and traditions for the House
ask fellow Oriens scholars for ideas when something takes an unexpected turn
occasionally change your mind entirely and see where that leads
New posts will appear here as there is something worth gathering around.
Help Shape Oriens
The Houses of Evershade are still young.
Oriens does not come with centuries of traditions already written. Some things about the House are established, but much of its culture will grow from the scholars who actually belong to it.
What should Oriens celebrate?
What should happen in the Basin each spring?
What activities feel distinctly Oriens?
What traditions should future members inherit from the Eversparks who gathered here first?
You are welcome to suggest them.
Some ideas may remain ideas. Some may grow into activities. Others may change along the way and become something nobody expected when they began.
Over time, the traditions that truly belong to Oriens will emerge from the people who make this room their own.
The story of Oriens is still being written.
Introduce Yourself
If you're among the first Oriens scholars to arrive in the Basin, say hello in the comments below.
You can tell us as much or as little as you'd like. If you need somewhere to begin:
What brought you to Evershade?
What are you studying or exploring right now?
What made Oriens feel like your House?
What is something new you'd like to try, learn, or create?
Or begin somewhere completely different. There is more than one way into a conversation.
Welcome to the Basin.
Make yourself at home.
Professor Fernfoot would probably remind you that very few things in a greenhouse grow exactly according to plan. That doesn't mean they aren't growing.
All scholars of Evershade are Eversparks first. Visitors from other Houses are welcome to look around the Basin and learn about Oriens. We simply ask that House-specific discussions, decisions, and activities remain primarily in the hands of Oriens members.
