The sky keeps every story people ever told about it. Come up after dark, and we will read a few together.

About Professor Glimmerwick

Professor Glimmerwick is a Brazilian free-tailed bat, and the night has always been her country. Kind, warm, and whimsical, she grew up fascinated by the night sky during her evening flights, and became as interested in the stories people told about the stars as in the stars themselves.

She was born in Monterrey, Mexico, and in time migrated north. In Kansas she discovered Evershade's abandoned observatory, and fell in love with the Celestial Tower on sight. She began restoring its instruments and collecting old star charts, and arrived at her professorship through curiosity rather than by seeking a teaching job. It developed naturally, the way the best things here tend to.

From her place near the top of Evershade, she studies the night sky and the many ways people before us tried to understand it. Star charts, constellation stories, old calendars, and astronomical instruments have a habit of accumulating wherever she works. She is delighted by almost any excuse to visit the Observatory after dark.

Professor Glimmerwick's wax seal Her wax seal — Professor Glimmerwick seals her notes with deep midnight blue wax. You will find them pinned throughout her lessons, and now and then elsewhere around the castle, often somewhere with a view of the sky.
